Outfit of the Day: Glammed Up Green
Hey guys!
How are you all doing? Oh my goodness I decided to check some of the locations listed in the Open Doors Toronto event and it was beyond my expectations. I absolutely had no idea Toronto had so many historic buildings rich with past tradition and artifacts. I decided to check out the downtown core as there was several locations to check out and get more coverage of the places in the least amount of time. I checked out the Elgin & Winter Garden theater, old and city hall, Osgoode Hall, and the MaRS Discovery Centre. All locations were interesting in their own way but I highly recommend checking out the Elgin & Winter Garden Theater and Osgoode Hall. The Elgin & Winter Garden Theater was absolutely beautiful, this place has been designed right down to the details, the Winter Garden Theater has a garden on the ceiling (literally) not a real garden but a plastic one but it is so magical with the mini lanterns hanging along the leaves. It is surreal and definitely a sight to be captured on your camera. Osgoode Hall on the other hand, is also a beautiful building that articulates past historical figures, past traditions all over their walls. Each room is special as it has its own purpose and the court rooms are decorated so eloquently.
Anyways on to my outfit, this outfit I actually did not wear for today. This is yesterday's outfit and not something I would feel comfortable wearing for a day of exploring. This is what I wore yesterday on my date and it was quite chilly out. I decided to work around my anorak jacket and make it more glammed out. I wore a plain white dress and accessorized with a silver necklace, some red lipstick and some black booties. Here's the look :)

Outfit of the Day: Mixing Black and White Prints
Hey guys!
I find it rather odd that for this spring season black and white is trending. Also it is a relief from those floral prints we get every spring season for the past couple of years. Admittedly, I got pretty sick of those typical florals and pastel coloured silhouettes that filled every aisle of the department store. I decided for today's outfit is to pattern mix. This time I chose a different route and that was to take two completely different patterns still remaining in the same colour scheme. When it comes to pattern mixing in that sense, you need to be aware of the magnitude or the size of the pattern relative to the other pattern. I decided to pattern mix with my bold chevron skirt, I found the chevron print to be quite large relative to my polka dot crop top. You don't want to pair two ensembles that have the same size in pattern or else it becomes overwhelming; hence the two patterns are competing with one another. That is a tip I utilize when styling various prints together into one look. Anyways here is what I came up with for today's look :) And of course since it is Friday, I hope all of you guys have a lovely weekend. For those of you who live in Toronto or visiting Toronto for the weekend, I recommend checking out Doors Open, it is a great event that is taking place during the weekend. It gives you the opportunity to walk into places that are usually closed to the public, but here's your chance to check it out. The website has some recommended locations to check out, and let me tell you there is several gems in the city; when you go inside there are some things you will discover you will never expect to find. I will let you guys know in the next post what I've come across. As for the time being, I have to get going as I am preparing for a wedding for tonight. But I'll make sure to update you guys with everything as it is a busy weekend for me.

Outfit of the Day: Trenched Pink
Hey guys!
The obsession with those kimono-styled trench coats are real, I was finally able to get one after eyeing those coats for about a year or so. Something about these coats are the fact it is so versatile and makes any outfit look so much better and put together. When in reality it is effortless and all you have to do is just throw it on top of any outfit; it works perfectly with basic clothing pieces or any fitted structured outfit. I did not necessarily style structured items under for this look as I wanted to follow a certain colour scheme. I love how beige, white and pink look together and then I decided to top it off with some gold accessories. Here is the look :)

Outfit of the Day: Warm Velvet
So I decided to style my red velvet top I thrifted recently. I absolutely love velvet, the fabric just gives so much life to any basic outfits because of its luminescent properties. It shines as you walk the streets on a sunny day and that is probably why it is one of my favourite materials. I actually went to the thrift store and picked up at least five velvet related clothing items, which of course I do not need them all. So I ended up choosing two only, a black velvet button-up shirt and a plain red velvet top. I already have two velvet dresses and a velvet skirt at home, so you can understand the addiction is real. You do not need to do much when styling velvet items, the items themselves are bold so I decided to keep accessories minimal and played around with the colour scheme. I love how burgundy, beige and white look together so I decided to style all three colours in one. Since it was a bit chilly in Toronto I decided to pair my chunky oatmeal coloured cardigan for extra warmth and a white skater skirt to stay in that colour scheme. Here is the outfit :)

Outfit of the Day: Striped Flower
Hey guys!
You can probably tell by now, I challenged myself to style all my floral pieces for the following week; hence why all this week's outfits are all floral. I apologize to you in advance, if you are sick of the floral prints this whole week, but no worries the week is over and I will be trying to style other prints that are of course not floral. Anyways as my final floral look I decided to pattern mix it, instead of styling your everyday solids with it. I played it pretty safe and styled it with a striped turtle neck. I got sick of styling that basic white tee or black tee with floral, it is just too safe and expected. Stripes are not done often, but if done right it looks like you put more effort. Actually now that I think about it, when it comes to pattern mixing I always pair stripes as the base pattern and then mix it up with another pattern. It is usually safe to pair stripes with another pattern to not look too clashing, especially if you are a starter to pattern mixing, stripes is my best bet. Anyways it was Friday night and to dress things up I just added a belt and a leather jacket to close the look. Here it is :)

Outfit of the Day - Sunflower Power
Hey guys!
Oh my goodness today the weather was so weird. It was nice and toasty a couple of days ago here in Toronto and I thought we were onto a nice long warm spring. Nope, the exact opposite happened; it became cold, like really cold. Toronto does best with weather fluctuations as usual, and this outfit is definitely not appropriate for today. I thought it was at the time, when I started dressing up but eventually regretted the instance I left home. I was wearing my boyfriend's hoodie the whole time to compensate the lack of layers from today's outfit. Nonetheless here is the original outfit I wore for the day. I like to take advantage of the season and try to wear as much florals as I can and hence I chose my sunflower crop top. All I know was I wanted to wear my fedora, just cause it makes every look even better. My obsession with fedoras is at another level, seriously. I had no idea how to style the crop top so I stick to the basic skater skirt. Well here is the outfit :)
