Outfit of the Day: City Chic

Hey guys!

As you guys know, I have mentioned earlier my school is still on strike. York University is making headlines at this point with the violence, disruption it is bringing to the community. I am not affected as much as some other students are; as some faculties have not resume their classes. My program is mostly taught by full-time contract professors that have been teaching for several years and they do most of the marking of my exams and assignments since my classes are relatively small. I hope the university and the strike members come to a fair agreement eventually as several students are affected.

I have not mention this yet yet but I am beyond excited, so excited that I recently got concert tickets for my favourite artist Madeon or Hugo Pierre Leclercq! He is a French Electronic artist and his music is so fresh and unique. Madeon has released a couple of singles from his highly anticipated album Adventure that will be available soon, and the songs are so good I have been listening to all his songs on repeat. I feel his songs play in a certain chronological order, I feel the song "You're On" is the first song I listen to when I leave to go outside or when I am starting the day. Which reflects to go seek for new adventures, being optimistic and looking beyond the ordinary. Then while I am commuting on the subway I listen to "Pay No Mind" which I feel it means to not worry what others think and go for it, go set out to do your own thing. While I am on my way home, I listen to "Home" which is reminiscent of what I have left and basically returning to the place I am most comfortable being in.  The crazier thing is, he is the same age as me, he is 20. What? He is so talented and I came to appreciate his work and what he has done with the music videos as well. Hugo came up with a language, "Madeon Alphabet, Google it, and he implanted some letters, phrases and symbols throughout his music videos which goes beyond the typical music video I have skimmed through. The music videos take on as a trilogy and continues from the other and I am definitely looking forward to what happens next. He will be having his show on May 8 and I will definitely take photos and keep you guys updated about that day.

Anyways about the outfit, it was centered around my new coat I picked up from the thrift store. This is definitely a gem since it is a coat from Holt Renfrew, it is made out of wool and camel hair, what? I wanted to have an effortless chill outfit and paired it with my black denim with knee slits, my black and white graphic tee, not just any graphic tee; it is chiffon material which makes the tee a lot more luxurious I feel. To jazz up the whole outfit, I topped it off with a bedazzled gem beanie which just makes any neutral outfit pop. Here is the look, enjoy :)

Outfit of the Day: Warm Stripes

Hey guys!

I am beyond excited, Toronto is actually experiencing more warmer climates. I can actually start wearing spring clothes, I don't know about you but I've been collecting spring and summer clothes all winter long. I'm not much of a fan of winter so I barely own anything winter-appropriate, I always gravitate towards skirts, dresses, florals, anything but winter clothes. I just call it a day and pair my heavy winter sweaters, jackets, coats, cardigans over my summer/spring attire.

Anyways on with my outfit I wanted to bust out my floppy hat, the floppy hat is so reminiscent of spring I had to pair it with whatever outfit I had in mind. My outfit I think has a combination of spring and winter elements. I was going to be out all day, so realistically I wanted to be prepared for night time, hence I had to bust out my super long black coat I thrifted. The spring elements of course is the striped crop top and my grey skirt. Hope you like the look :)

Outfit of the Day: Furry Plaid

Hey guys!

It has been a lovely day and a relaxing one, which is definitely a rare occasion where I get to unwind this much on a weekday. I did not do much but I picked up some lunch with my boyfriend, Kelvyn, and we walked around downtown a bit.

Today was a chilly day so I wanted to bundle up in something furry, hence why I chose to wear my over-sized black fur coat I got awhile back from Stitches. I styled my furry coat with my favourite tartan printed skirt. Tartan print in general reminds me of a grunge vibe and I decided to sway in that direction and pair some choker necklaces and a crop top. Excuse my black booties, they are completed cover in the snow slush and salt which is so unavoidable. Not quite sure how I walk, but I always have my black shoes become white by the end of the day. If you guys by any chance know how to get rid of slush and salt from your shoes, by all means let me know. Nonetheless, here is my outfit; hope you like it :)

Outfit of the Day: Fedoras and Turtlenecks

Hey guys!

So Day 2 of the York University Strike, no progress as of yet. But I decided not to worry too much, and decided to take a whole day off to myself and just enjoy the little things in life. During school, I don't really get the chance to appreciate much of my surroundings but rather stress out on the copious amounts of readings I have ahead of myself. On my days off, I love to explore and discover a new part of the city which I exactly did. I strolled around the downtown area and went out for a date after for some chicken wings. Of course the date does not sound romantic but it was half price wings day and who doesn't enjoy chicken wings?

Anyways about the outfit, I wanted to be extremely warm so I decided to pair my extremely thick turtle neck to keep me warm. Believe it or not, I was actually warm considering I was wearing a leather jacket and a thermal under my turtle neck. I was able to ditch the oversized-parka and I decided to wear this super long teal chiffon-dress I thrifted recently, underneath the turtle neck. It was snowing quite a bit so I decided to top everything off with a fedora to block the snow flakes off my face. Hope you like the outfit :)

Outfit of the Day: Frozen Florals

Hey guys!

So this week has been pure craziness, too much has happened over the course of the week. I guess first thing to mention is I finished my last exam which is awesome; I now got the chance to catch up on my sleep. Why would someone schedule an exam 10 am in the morning on a Sunday? The subway does not open till 9:30 am in Toronto, so you could imagine what the commute was like. My friend and I had to take 4 buses altogether, which was over 200 bus stops to reach the university. Anyways speaking of university, this is kind of a weird feeling hence I have no classes happening anymore. That is right, my university is on strike and all the students are just as confused as I am. We do not know when the university will open, since the last strike York University had the strike last about 4 months. I do not think the strike will last as long, (fingers crossed), or else the semester may extend to summer, perhaps but no knows. On the bright side, I will make use of this time and try to film as much videos as I can and post more blog outfits for the time being.

Without further ado here is my outfit :) As mentioned earlier in prior posts, Toronto is pretty cold around this time of the year and as most Torontonians dressing stylishly is a challenging task. We simply wear a parka jacket over our sweater and multiple layers of tights/long-john's under our pants and call it a day. This outfit on the other hand, I was able to bundle up, stay warm yet be able to wear something a bit nicer than the typical parka. It was all about the layers when it comes to this look, I wore a thermal under my sweater, wore a thick hoodie that is filled with a fur lining, then topped it off with a black coat to try to streamline all those layers. This combination is a safe template I use for the cold winters, I add some knee-high's for extra warmth and of course a hat, scarf, gloves are a must  for all of winter. Hope you guys have an amazing week! :)
